The TT/C ratio was significantly elevated for both rests in all postexercise moments compared with PRE. The C values did not change throughout any postexercise verification for either rests. For FT, both 1- and 3-minute rest protocols triggered augmentations on distinct postexercise moments (T0 and T15 for 1 minute; T15 and T30 for 3-minute) compared with PRE. For TT, both rest lengths enhanced all postexercise verifications (T0, T15, and T30) compared with PRE, with 1 minute showing decreases on T15 and T30 compared with T0. After struggling with my own health and weight challenges in my 20s, I discovered the transformative power of exercise, nutrition, and mindset work. We also found that after SIE, there were statistically significant differences in changes of cortisol levels between the strength-training and non-training groups. Results showed that individuals who trained endurance and strength sports had lower heart rate means following five acute 10-s interval exercises than individuals in the control group (while there were no differences between individuals who trained endurance and strength sports; see Figure 3). The physical exertion consisted of a 5 min warm up with a 2 kg load, 1 min of rest, 5 repeated "all-out" bouts of exercise (10 s each) with a Wingtate load—7.5% of the participant’s body mass (followed by 50 s of slow-cycling without a load between bouts), and 1 min of slow-cycling without a load at the end. All participants performed one protocol of sprint interval exercise (Figure 2) on the cycle ergometer (Ergomedic Monark 894, Vansbro, Sweden), which followed the same scientific criteria as tools used in previous studies 24,25. All participants were advised to brush their teeth at least 2 h prior to the study to minimize the impact on the hormonal assessment of saliva . Arazi et al. studied young and middle-aged men who underwent an 8-week-long progressive resistance training program. Zmuda et al. examined the acute effect of moderate physical activity with increasing intensity on T-Testo in elderly (70 ± 4 years), sedentary men. Studies in older participants refer to studies in men with an average age of 60 ± 5 years. Cadoux et al. injected radiolabeled testosterone in men who underwent vigorous aerobic exercise for 50 min. We can speculate that SIE in our formulation may safeguard the physical activity of a healthy, non-exercising population of young people. However, we used the Borg scale to assess the intensity of rating of perceived exertion after SIE. Finally, some authors 14,15 have shown that SIE can elicit negative affective reactions during exercise, which is responsible for the withdrawal and avoidance of exercise in the future. In contrast, cortisol has a catabolic function and is involved in the stress response. This may explain the significant increases in the change of salivary C concentration in all groups after SIE (Table 1). While the study utilized an analysis of variance design, no Time×Group interaction was presented. Interestingly, women showed similar, or even greater (LPD, Sex×Time) relative strength gain. The magnitude of these differences (approximately threefold higher in women Intra and Post-workout), however, are more substantial in this study, compared to others (11, 47). Fundamentally, as mentioned by the authors, a cross-education effect cannot be neglected, with possible blunting of an effect of transient elevations in anabolic hormones. As noted by the authors, the low sample size, initial strength differences and large variability in data set do not allow for conclusiveness of the results. Meanwhile, while females had higher concentrations of GH and a greater absolute change, men showed a greater relative increase in GH.
